Embodiment: The Practice of Making Real

What does it mean to embody our life? Is it filling an empty space within us with intention, awareness and presence? How can yoga play a role in assisting us in seeking and finding the embodiment we are after?

After we learn the basics of yoga practice (what to do in this pose or that) then we can relax into adding our breath with our movement. When the breath becomes second nature, then the turning inward starts and the real practice begins. It is then that yoga becomes your portable sanctuary, available to you at any moment. Then, you don’t actually need movement to link the practice together. Being in your asana (which means seat) where you are in each moment of your life. If you are a beginner, stay with the practice. Notice how you feel when you are on the mat. Does the mat become your home, your sanctuary of peace? When it does, then it is time to move your practice off the mat and into the world.
