Halloween to Valentine’s Day: The eating season

We are often visited by the wildlife who share our home. For them, finding food and water each day is a full time job! For us, the livin’ is easier and we actually have to turn away food. A dear friend and fellow yoga teacher says that this is the Eating Season: the time between Halloween and Valentine’s day when our focus is enjoying and abundance of food, rather than not enough. Choices for us.Difficult choices at times.

In yoga, the fire of digestion is called agni. We can influence this digestive fire thru our yoga practice as well as our food choices. Agni resides in your third chakra, the power center. Ayurvedic medicine (the medical science of yoga) stresses attention on how we assimilate (digest and incorporate nutrients)food as a key to health. So it is not surprising that there are many yoga practices focused in improving our digestion.

Come join us on Halloween nite, October 31 from 6:30-8 pm at the UU Church of Fresno for a physical practice focused on improving our digestion. We will also take some time to remember those who have left their bodies this year and have left a last impression on our lives. Join us!
