Strength and balance.

Published on May 25, 2010

When the issue of balance is brought up, I usually see people roll their eyes and begin a lament about how bad their balance is. Balance certainly is a “use it or lose it” skill. After about age 40 years, we are all well advised to practice our balance routinely as it influences our health […]

Relaxation in the midst of effort

Published on May 18, 2010

When I was searching for the right yoga teacher training program I had many criteria. Above all, the yoga tradition I wished to study would need to focus on using relaxation as a major component of its basic philosophy. Ananda yoga is a relaxation-based practice, so it fit. Yoga: A personal experience

Published on May 4, 2010

Each of us place value and meaning to everything. I challenge you this week, rather than learning a new pose, instead, to think about why you are drawn to yoga. I clearly remember my first yoga class with my teacher Cindy. She asked me what I wanted from my yoga practice. I knew that I […]

Published on May 2, 2010

We start each month with Yin Yoga on the first Monday nite. Check this site for explanation of Yin Yoga. In general, it is a quite practice, which focuses on connective tissue stretching (rather than muscular work). This practice brings about a meditative quality than many find takes longer to develop in Yang (the more […]
